As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Staff Psychologist to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by delivering excellence in mental healthcare services to Marian University's diverse student body to support students in reaching their personal and academic goals.
The Staff Psychologist performs all functions of a campus comprehensive counseling center team member. Such roles include providing traditional forms of psychotherapy (individual/group), engaging with the campus community via outreach and consultation services around mental health concerns, and facilitating training/supervision for doctoral level students in psychology.
The CCS staff is a highly invested team of mental health professionals that value inclusivity, collaboration and initiative and are looking for candidates who are passionate about working with students and providing a safe, welcoming and affirming environment to all.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies
- Provides individual and group therapy specific to personal, academic, and career issues.
- Participates in the provision of mental health triage services
- Provides emergency and crisis intervention services
- Provides consultation and resources to faculty, staff, students and parents
- Provides outreach and mental wellness programming for campus community
- Shares on call responsibility with other counseling staff
- Participates in training of doctoral practicum students
- Follows centers policies and procedures consistent with state mental health statutes, ethical guidelines, best practices, HIPAA, and FERPA
- Maintains confidentiality according to the professional and ethical guidelines of the American Psychological Association
- Remains updated on research and best practices related to mental health topics and counseling in higher education
- Pursues professional development through professional organizations and conferences
- Attends and presents in regular case conference staffing
- Serves on internal and external committees as requested by Director of Counseling Center
- Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Counseling Services
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Doctoral degree (PhD/PsyD) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from APA accredited program and APA accredited internship
- Licensed or licensed eligible in state of Indiana
- Demonstrated successful experience in provision of counseling services to an older adolescent and adult population is required. University Counseling Center experience preferred but not required.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural competence and demonstrated successful experience in provision of psychological services to underrepresented and marginalized groups
- Spanish speaking language skills preferred but not required
- Strong case formulation, assessment and treatment skills, including the ability to work with a diversity of clients, clinical issues and levels of impairment.
- Knowledge of developmental trends and concerns of undergraduates, graduate and professional students.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, able to dialogue effectively with a wide range of students, faculty and staff
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate collegially with a multidisciplinary staff, both within Counseling and Consultation Services and throughout the University community
- Ongoing pursuit of self-knowledge and understanding of own personal factors affecting clinical work
