Description
As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff, Marian University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine seeks an Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP) faculty member, who will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for teaching OPP to osteopathic medical students and may also support the Masters of Biomedical Sciences program as needed. This faculty member will collaborate with biomedical and clinical faculty, engage in scholarly activities, and contribute to University and College of Osteopathic Medicine service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
Primary responsibility: teach first and second year osteopathic medical students osteopathic principles and practice as part of a patient-centered, systems-based, integrated curriculum
Develop and deliver teaching materials and educational materials
Serve as a lecturer and table trainer for OPP across the osteopathic medicine curriculum
Participate in and/or facilitate integrated learning activities (ILAs) or similar active learning sessions
Actively participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to ensure students receive broad-based education
Collaborate with biomedical and clinical science faculty to create high quality integrated learning experiences with a focus on the NBOME blueprint
Develop and deliver teaching materials and educational materials to OMM Honors students
Supervise OMT for athletes in collaboration with the MU Team Physician and trainer
Actively participate in curriculum design, development and evaluation
Engage students in instruction through active learning methodologies
Facilitate small group and large group learning activities
Author original questions congruent with learning objectives for formative and summative exams. Questions should be of the quality and design consistent with national licensure exams such as the COMLEX and USMLE
Teach and mentor osteopathic medical students who seek advanced experiences
Serve as a faculty advisor to students
Assist with assessment and quality improvement of the program
Assist with accreditation, as requested
Serve as faculty in the development and delivery of OPP focused CME
Serve as a resource for Osteopathic Recognition in our GME partners through faculty development, workshops, presentations, etc
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Chair of OPP or the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs
While teaching is the primary focus of this role, scholarly activity and service are fundamental elements of this faculty role as well. There is also the possibility for limited clinical practice that can be developed.

To be qualified for this position the candidate must have a DO degree from an accredited college of osteopathic medicine.
Preference will be given to those with:
Residency trained and board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (ONMM or CSP-OMM)
Prior teaching experience in osteopathic medical school or residency program
Current unrestricted physician licensure in any state or protectorate, and/or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana
