Tenure track faculty will dedicate the majority of their time to research, but also to make significant contributions to the education mission of the Department. Applicants with expertise in community-engaged research, implementation science, mixed methods, health equity, primary care research, and health services research are encouraged to apply. The Department conducts innovative, high-impact, health outcomes and health services research in areas such as: dissemination and implementation of preventive services; alcohol and substance use disorders; maternal/ child health; clinical health information technology; telehealth; primary care redesign; health disparities and equity; and clinical communication in complex disease.

DFCM operates 10 clinical practices, including a designated federally-qualified health center, with over 60 faculty and 28 residents. The DFCM is an exceptional department in an exceptional environment. It fully integrates foundational and clinical science to prepare students to practice personalized medicine. Our department faculty members continue to advance knowledge of best practices in primary care through nationally-funded efforts, such as the development of the Ohio Primary Care Innovation Network. Ongoing collaborations between the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Divisions of General Internal Medicine and Ambulatory Pediatrics seek to bolster medical research in primary care. Together, our successful efforts have resulted in major increases in published research and significant gains in grant support for health services and implementation science research. Faculty will have opportunity to collaborate with this wide network of outstanding clinicians and investigators across OSU. They will have access to university resources including the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (OSU’s Clinical and Translational Science Award from the NIH), Research Informatics Services, and the Clinical Trials Management Office.
