I have been actively involved in medical research since beginning medical school in 2006. Since that time I have been involved in many research projects including assessing medical transport of spinal trauma patients, evaluating spinal alignment of adolescent patients with scoliosis, and most recently, looking at the radiation exposure of imaging systems used in the operating room during spinal surgery. Modern technology has provided us with new ways to image patients during surgery which can be very helpful and improve our accuracy, but we must ensure we are utilizing any new technology as safely as possible. Working at such an amazing institution as Duke Health allows me to continue to pursue my academic interests while providing outstanding clinical care to my patients.
