Dr. Kerkar has been involved in several multi-center studies funded by the NIDDK, FDA and pharmaceutical companies. She hopes to get some of the research studies started here, so that her patients can have access to diagnostic tests and therapies early, and also improved outcomes. Her research interests include autoimmune liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases including biliary atresia, alagille syndrome, sclerosing cholangitis as well as nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. She is also interested in studying non-invasive markers of fibrosis. She has over a 100 peer reviewed publications and is currently co-editing a book on Wilson Disease.
