Dr. Schumacher-Coffey’s primary scholarly interests are in the areas of intimate partner violence, drug and alcohol abuse, motivational interviewing, and dissemination of evidence-based practices. She has received funding from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to study the etiology and treatment of intimate partner violence in individuals with alcohol dependence and from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to develop a novel curriculum for the dissemination of Motivational Interviewing. She has also served as primary mentor on an F32 postdoctoral fellowship funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and served as a co-investigator or consultant on several grants.
