Dr. Narender Annapureddy has been interested in education and research throughout his career. During his residency training at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital in New York, he spearheaded a study on the effect of ACGME work hours on resident attitudes. Dr. Annapureddy was one of the founding editors of the Journal of Medical Education Perspectives along with being one of the primary authors for the internship handbook for his institution. His research interests include patient reported outcomes and he has worked during his fellowship on the use of multi-dimensional health assessment questionnaire (MDHAQ) in lupus and ANCA vasculitis. Other research work includes quality improvement in rheumatology as reflected by his work on osteoporosis screening in men on glucocorticoids, role of urgent care clinics in academic rheumatology practices, and development of musculoskeletal workshops for resident education. He has presented his research work at multiple national and international meetings including ACR, EULAR, International Congress on SLE, CSCTR, NYRIF, ACP, and AMA meetings. Dr. Annapureddy has been the recipient of travel awards for the EULAR annual meeting in Paris, the Rheumatology Research Workshop in Seattle, and the North American Young Rheumatology Investigator Forum. He received the American College of Rheumatology distinguished fellow award for 2014. He is also a strong advocate for patient education and involvement. To this purpose, he is active with the Lupus foundation of America and has helped conduct two patient education workshops. Outside of work, Dr. Annapureddy likes travelling and outdoor photography.
