Expertise: Dr. Barnes researches academic skill development and learning disabilities in mathematics and reading comprehension in preschoolers, school-age children, and adolescents. She has a particular interest in combining academic and cognitive interventions to address the multi-dimensional nature of children’s learning difficulties. She also studies learning difficulties in children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as spina bifida and traumatic head injuries.
