Position Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Postdoctoral Associate. Dr. Sangita Patels lab, Department of Ophthalmology at the University at Buffalo, is located at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. Dr. Patels lab studies the physiology of the corneal endothelium, the cell layer that maintains transparency of the cornea. Current projects are focused on studies of the extracellular matrix of the corneal endothelium and responses to cell injury. The Post-Doctoral Associate is expected to be able to move projects from the idea phase to the bench, including interpretation and presentation of findings.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Establishing new protocols for new research ideas
    • Performing and troubleshooting experimental protocols
    • Analyzing and interpreting data and preparing for presentation/publications
    • Human and cow eye dissections
    • General laboratory maintenance/upkeep activities

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or MD in a relevant science / health science field
  • Excellent organizational, documentation and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Proficient in cell culture techniques



Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable about ophthalmic disease and ocular anatomy
  • Experience studying extracellular matrix

$50,000
